Resolution on the situation in Venezuela
N-VA stemde voor de resolutie over Venezuela omdat het om mensenrechten gaat. Wij kijken Europees naar de merite van elk voorstel, niet naar wie meestemt of mee indient. Het hele Parlement had als één man moeten opstaan om de onderdrukking van mensen in Venezuela te veroordelen in plaats van zich te verstoppen achter excuses. Mij maakt het niet uit wie de resolutie gesteund heeft. Wat belangrijk is, is waarvoor in de resolutie wordt gepleit: solidariteit met het onderdrukte volk van Venezuela. Maduro, al sinds 2013 aan de macht in het Zuid-Amerikaanse land Venezuela, en zijn regering zijn verantwoordelijk voor executies, verdwijningen, foltering en wrede politieke repressie. Wie niet voor de resolutie gestemd heeft, heeft voor Maduro gekozen en tegen zijn onschuldige slachtoffers.
