Housing crisis in the European Union with the aim of proposing solutions for decent, sustainable and affordable housing

De N-VA erkent dat er in Europa een wooncrisis bestaat. In veel lidstaten is er een tekort aan betaalbare woningen, veroorzaakt door onderinvestering, stijgende bouw- en energiekosten en langdurige vergunningsprocedures. Dat zijn reële problemen die een antwoord verdienen. Voor de N-VA is het echter duidelijk dat huisvesting in de eerste plaats een bevoegdheid is van de lid- en deelstaten. Dit is beleid dat zo dicht mogelijk bij de burger moet worden gevoerd. De behoeften, woningmarkten en sociale systemen verschillen sterk van land tot land en zelfs van regio tot regio. Daarom kan een uniforme Europese aanpak geen doeltreffende oplossing bieden. Onze voorkeur gaat uit naar een Vlaamse invulling, niet naar verdere Europese harmonisering. De Europese Unie moet zich richten op haar kerntaken, zoals het versterken van de interne markt, het verlagen van bouw-/energiekosten en het wegnemen van regelgeving die investeringen belemmert. Het uitbouwen van een Europees woonbeleid hoort daar niet bij. Om die redenen stemde de N-VA tegen dit verslag.
