Gender Equality Strategy 2025

Η στρατηγική για την ισότητα των φύλων 2025 αποτελεί ένα σημαντικό βήμα προς μια Ευρώπη που προάγει την πραγματική ισότητα μεταξύ γυναικών και ανδρών σε όλους τους τομείς της ζωής. Aπό την εργασία και την εκπαίδευση, μέχρι τη συμμετοχή στη δημόσια και πολιτική ζωή. Ψήφισα υπέρ της έκθεσης γιατί ενισχύει τις πολιτικές για ίσες ευκαιρίες, για την καταπολέμηση της έμφυλης βίας και για τη στήριξη των γυναικών που πλήττονται δυσανάλογα από κοινωνικές και οικονομικές ανισότητες. Ωστόσο, παρόλο που πάντα ψηφίζω υπέρ των δικαιωμάτων των τρανς και ίντερσεξ ατόμων, όπως αποδεικνύεται τόσο από τη στάση μου σε προηγούμενες ψηφοφορίες όσο και στην παρούσα έκθεση με την υπερψήφιση των αναφορών σε LGBTI άτομα, αυτήν τη φορά ψήφισα κατά της παραγράφου 16, μέρος 2, όπου γίνεται ειδική αναφορά και σε «non-binary individuals», μεταξύ άλλων. Η συγκεκριμένη διατύπωση, κατά την άποψή μου, εισάγει όρους που δεν έχουν σαφή νομική οριοθέτηση στο ευρωπαϊκό πλαίσιο, γεγονός που μπορεί να απομακρύνει το επίκεντρο από τον θεμελιώδη στόχο της ισότητας μεταξύ γυναικών και ανδρών, όπως αυτός κατοχυρώνεται στις Συνθήκες της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης. Η θέση μου παραμένει υπέρ της προστασίας όλων από κάθε μορφή διάκρισης, με τρόπο όμως θεσμικά σαφή, νομικά συνεκτικό και σύμφωνο με το ευρωπαϊκό κεκτημένο.
