Resolution on continued financial and military support to Ukraine by EU Member States

I have supported this resolution because I believe Europe must stand behind the people of Ukraine for as long as is necessary. There can be no room for equivocation in our condemnation of Putin and Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine. Notwithstanding that, I want to add this explanation of vote to express my concern at some of the elements within this report calling for increased military spending from all EU Member States. I am a firm supporter of Irish military neutrality, and my votes for specific amendments within this voting session reflect that position. However, ultimately I supported the overall resolution in order to ensure the largest possible majority from the European Parliament standing with Ukraine.
