Housing crisis in the European Union with the aim of proposing solutions for decent, sustainable and affordable housing
De wooncrisis is in heel Europa een enorm probleem. Wonen is een recht, geen privilege. Daarom vindt GroenLinks-PvdA het goed dat de Europese Commissie het aanpakken van de wooncrisis tot prioriteit heeft gemaakt. In dit verslag van het Europees Parlement wordt aandacht gevraagd voor een systemische aanpak van de woningnood. Onze fractie is blij met de erkenning dat er cruciale stappen moeten worden gezet in de strijd tegen dakloosheid. Ook waarderen we de extra inzet om de positie van kinderen te beschermen, met het vrijmaken van een begroting voor de Europese kindergarantie van 20 miljard euro, en het benoemen van speculatie op de woningmarkt. Tegelijkertijd constateren we dat het verslag, onder invloed van een rechtse meerderheid, te sterk leunt op marktwerking, deregulering en het stimuleren van woningbezit. En dat terwijl het duidelijk is dat de markt alleen de wooncrisis niet kan oplossen en dat overheden juist een grotere rol moeten spelen in het waarborgen van wonen als basisrecht. Wij missen een duidelijkere keuze voor een sterkere publieke rol in de volkshuisvesting. We zien zowel duidelijk positieve als duidelijk negatieve elementen in het voorstel en hebben daarom besloten ons te onthouden van stemming.
