Resolution on the European citizens’ initiative entitled ‘My Voice, My Choice: For Safe and Accessible Abortion’

Die Initiative „My Voice My Choice“ greift ein Thema auf, das viele Frauen unmittelbar betrifft. Gerade deshalb ist ein verantwortungsvoller und rechtssicherer Umgang erforderlich. Allerdings verfügt die Europäische Union über keine Zuständigkeit zur Regelung nationaler Vorschriften zum Schwangerschaftsabbruch. Eine Europäische Bürgerinitiative kann die Kommission nur dort sinnvoll adressieren, wo ein belastbarer EU-Rechtsrahmen besteht. Dies ist hier nicht gegeben. Legale Möglichkeiten für Schwangerschaftsabbrüche in einem geordneten rechtlichen und zeitlichen Rahmen sind ebenso notwendig wie Beratung und Unterstützung für Frauen in Notlagen. Leider gibt es Mitgliedsstaaten, in denen der Rechtsrahmen so restriktiv ist, dass Frauen ernsthaft in gesundheitliche und persönliche Schwierigkeiten geraten können. Es gibt auch Mitgliedstaaten, die eine Abtreibung als Grundrecht betrachten und den Rechtsrahmen so erweitert haben, dass selbst die Tötung eines Kindes, das Überlebensfähigkeit hätte, erlaubt wird. Beide Positionen halte ich für falsch. Ich persönliche halte Beratung in schwierigen Situationen und das Recht der Frau, eine letztendliche Entscheidung in einem adäquaten zeitlichen Rahmen zu treffen, so wie es in Deutschland der Fall ist, für richtig. Notlagen sind real und politisch relevant. Regelung, Beratung und medizinische Standards sind Ausdruck verantwortungsvoller Politik. Deshalb lehne ich diese Initiative ab und setze mich für eine eigenständige, unionsgeprägte Lösung ein.
